A Message from the Principal

It is with pleasure that I share with you the Board approved appointment of Mrs. Sarah Johnson as Principal of Peachland effective July 1, 2008.  Sarah came to the Newhall School District from the Los Angeles Unified School District where she taught for four years.  She first came to the Newhall School District in 2005 as a classroom teacher at Wiley Canyon School.  She was soon promoted in October, 2006 to Assistant Principal at Newhall Elementary School.  She will be the summer school Principal at Old Orchard this July.  I am sure you will be seeing Mrs. Johnson around here soon – I know she is looking forward to getting to know all of you and seeing for herself why we remain so proud of all that Peachland is and stands for.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support to me and Peachland the last four years.  It truly has been an honor to work with and for so many wonderful families.  Peachland has always meant a lot to me and it was rewarding to be able to be a part of the education of your children.  I am now looking forward to my change in schedule and ability so spend more time with my family.  Because of the professional and talented staff here at Peachland, your children and those yet to come will continue to benefit from a program that develops academic skills and knowledge, strength of character and communication skills.  I wish all of you the very best.

 

                              

Reminders

  • If you have textbooks or library books out, those need to be returned or paid for in order to receive your child’s final report card.  Please turn in books or money to Cheryl Phillips in the library.
  • Please let the office know if you are not returning to Peachland for the 2008-2009 school year or if you plan to start late due to vacation plans.  The Peachland office will reopen to the public on Monday, August 4th.  School begins for students on Wednesday, August 13th.

Lost and Found

Please feel free to stop by and check the many items left in the Lost and Found.  The cabinet will be located in the MPR.

PTA News from Amy Noland, PTA President

School is almost over!  Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time to make our PTA events and happenings a success.  Of course our last two big things are our annual Variety Show, and the Auction for the Arts along with it.  The Variety Show is Friday, June 6th at 6:30 p.m. at Hart Auditorium.  If you haven’t bought tickets yet, you need to ASAP as it is almost sold out.  We are again selling high quality, professionally taped DVDs of the show this year.  The cost is $25.00.  Order forms will be at the show.  Our Auction for the Arts will start at Variety Show rehearsal on Thursday, June 5th at 5 p.m.  We will have a combination silent auction and raffle baskets.  The baskets will again be out the night of the show, from 5:00 until intermission.  There are some great baskets you won’t want to miss bidding on or buying raffle tickets for.  Pizza will also be sold the night of the show starting at 5:00 p.m.  So, come have dinner, visit with friends, look over the raffle baskets and then enjoy the show!
